I am 60 years old having diabetics from last 5 years. I take Glycomet SR 500 mg twice a day. My fasting sugar is between 87 to 95 and post meals is between 130 to 157 & HBA1C is between 6.4 to 6.6. Few doctors suggested to take IME 9 and few not to take. Can you please tell me how IME 9 works? And if all the diabetic persons can take it in addition to regular sugar medicines.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. As I can see you have an excellent control of your blood glucose levels as well as HbA1c%. I really do not see why you should be considering changing the medication. As regards IME-9, if one wants to use this as an additional drug to the present treatment, it can be considered. How exactly it works is not really explained. All the information is based on ancient texts. There is no real new research. No double blind, cross over and comparative clinical trials. They mention that it has been tried in 800 patients, but no details are mentioned. I have not seen a published clinical study. So my suggestion is if you want to use it as an adjunct to present therapy, go ahead. Otherwise, no use. I had a patient here on Lybrate who said he stopped modern drugs and started on IME - 9 and came back after 20 days with FBG of 300 plus and PP 500 plus. So now the decision is yours. Thanks.
