Respected Dr, Sub:-Regd: Thyroid test values are TSH 19, T3 1.02, T4 5.43. I am 80 kg weight. I am using Thyro 50 mg. Is the dose sufficient or not pl advice me.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. When a person is on treatment for hypothyroidism with adequate dose of levothyroxine, then TSH is maintained around 3 to 4 mU/L. That will make one free from all the symptoms of hypothyroidism. You have a very high TSH, which means that the disease is not in control. To reach the desired level of TSH you will have to take a higher dose of levothyroxine. Then test the TSH level after 6 to 8 weeks. If then level is in the above mentioned range, then the condition is considered as well controlled. Uncontrolled hypothyroidism leads to considerable weight gain. You have mentioned only your weight, but no height is given to find out your BMI. Please see that your TSH levels are maintained in the above mentioned range. Thanks.
