My father (age 53) has liver cirrhosis and now diagnosed with acute pyelonephritis and has diabetes as well. Doctor has prescribed him salt restricted less fat diet but he does not like to eat them and wants to consume salty and oily food. When we give him the prescribed diet he eats less food and says that he will have whole food when we will give him what he wants to eat till then he will have less food. We have tried to make him understand but he is adamant. How should we deal with him? Please give your suggestions.

Hello, Thanks for the query. I have gone through the details given and understand your concern. But unfortunately there is no substitute what doctors have advised on the diet. In acute pyelonephritis salt restriction is a must. Similarly with cirrhosis of liver, with a severely damaged liver, fat restriction is also essential. You should try and convince him. There is no other option. Thanks.
