The higher tsh level means treatment for hypothyroidism has to be taken for life time. Other precautions include avoiding vegetables like cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli and any food item containing soya products. Also avoid mustard and coffee. One can use whole grain flour made breads, green salads and fruits, onion, garlic etc. If care is not taken and treatment is stopped then cosequences can be severe. Thyroxine is needed for all the metabolic functions of the body. If deficiency occurs can lead to swelling of feet and legs and face, slow heart rate, slurred speech, difficulty to concentrate, general weakness, lethargy, intolerance to cold temperature and hair loss.
