I'm really annoyed with this problem of misophonia since childhood. Now the problem seems escalating with me trying to not socialize much due to these annoying sounds of someone chewing something or biting nails. It becomes unavoidable sometimes to isolate yourself. I really worried about my future too. My work and personal life is getting affected. Isn't there an effective solution to this nasty problem? Please help me, also which doctor specialization should I consult, ent or psychiatrist?

The condition does affect daily life, but you can learn to manage it. Misophonia clinics offer sound therapy combined with psychological counseling. The doctor sets up background noises to counteract your trigger sound. You might try a device like a hearing aid that creates a sound in your ear similar to a waterfall. The noise distracts you from triggers and reduces reactions. Other treatments include talk therapy and antidepressants.
