Dear lybrate-user, I need to know the diagnosis of your wife. Depression can be a phase of a bipolar or recurrent major depressive disorder. Usually for such repeated depressions, psychiatrist prescribe Dicorate. Usual dose of Dicorate depends on her weight. May be she needs 20 mg/kg body weight. Just 500 mg at night may not be sufficient. You can also get blood valproate (dicorate) level. That may decide how much Dicorate she needs. Even Fluvoxin dose needs to be increased according to her response. Some time people respond well to low dose - but not always. When did she last saw the psychiatrist? Let her consult again and frequently even if she is normal. That will make her NOT to miss the tablets. Not having proper sleep is the early symptom of depression rather than the cause for depression. If you want more information, I need to get more information from her and you. Please come online chat or audio consultation at 10 or 10: 30 am. Mondays to Friday.

I need more detail history to make a proper diagnosis. You mentioned that she has depression but I think we should look for personality disorder and bipolar disorder also. Anyway continue the medications till you meet a psychiatrist. Regarding Fluvovin 50, it should be taken at bed time as it has sedative property and dose increment can be done if required. Side efeect of dicorate are usually hepatic dysfunction, weight gain, PCOS, tremor, hair loss etc. Wheras common side effect of Fluvoxin are sedation, dizziness, sexual dysfunction etc.
