lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Your eGFR & creatinine both look good enough considering you have been having diabetes for over 20 years. The blood glucose levels mentioned are too high. If same continue for a long time then kidneys will be further affected reducing the eGFR. Hence, it is essential to control blood glucose more effectively. Ideally fasting glucose should be < 100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg & HbA1c% <6.8 (not mentioned). One of the major hindrance for achieving desired glucose levels is your obesity. Excess fat opposes Insulin action. Even TSH level of 8.64 mU/L also contributes for being obese. Considering your age it is absolutely necessary to achieve a strict blood glucose control to prevent further deterioration of kidney function, plus to prevent or postpone other long term complications of diabetes involving various vital organ systems. Since there is no mention about current treatment and dosage of drugs being taken, dietary pattern and extent of daily exercise, it is difficult to give any further suggestions or opinion. Thanks.

Normal GFR is 90 or more. It is well established fact that diabetes affects kidneys adversely, more the duration of diabetes more are the chances of kidney famage. Please consult a Nephrologist. Control your blood sugar levels with in acceptable limits (FBS 90-120, PPBS 150-170). Avoid nephrotoxic drugs specially pain killers. TSH 8.64 is suggestive of hypothyroid which should be controlled with thyroid hormone. Regarding diet, you should avoid sugar, jaggery, honey, sweets, sweet fruits like mangoe, banana, cheekoo, grapes etc.
