A tooth indicated for RCT has to undergo RCT whether it pains or not as damage has occured upto its pulp (nerve and blood vessels). It can't be cured with medicines. Rest dends on you when you want to get it done by a dentist.

Consult a dentist as you can only justify the need of RCT after an examination only. For time being maintain hygiene, brush your teeth twice daily .avoid excess intake of sweets.
