My daughter (16 years old) is diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2015. I read that there is a surgical treatment in Asian Institute of Gastroenterology for diabetes. Is my daughter eligible for that treatment in Dr. Nageswar Reddy hospital.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. There is no surgical treatment that is currently available in any of the hospital for T1 DM. The surgery that some times help is known as Bariatric surgery, done is very obese patients. This is seen to help in reversing diabetes (T2) in those very fat patients. This happens due to a major weight loss. That to in patients whose T2 DM is not older than 5 years. In patients with long standing diabetes there may be a better blood glucose control achieved. But in case of T1 there is no such treatment available. Even transplantation of pancreas (which is very uncommon) also does no really help. Thanks.
