Please understand that If the holter shows a 2.5 sec pause in normal sinus rhythm it means that his normal conduction system is not working properly or he was on some heart rate controlling drug like beta blockers, if he was not on any such medication then his normal pacemaker is faulty. This pause means that for 2.5 sec his heart stops beating due to lack of current, this is a significant duration and it can cause fainting episodes and lead to fall and injuries, then that is an indication of pacemaker. I have not seen the holter of your father so I do not know if this pause is in nornmal rhythm or in AF (atrial fibrillation), in case this pause is in AF rhythm then we will need to evaluate him before deciding need for pacemaker. Before pacemaker and angiography should also be done. Hypertension and anxiety are not a contraindication to put an holter. If the conduction system becomes faulty then it can only be treated by a pacemaker, no medication can reverse this problem.
