My father (Male / 78 yrs) used to take Glimser Forte 2 (once daily) for Type 2 Diabetes, but the new medication from a reputed hospital has him taking trajenta 5 mg (once daily), and Glycomet 500 SR (twice daily) instead. He feels that his sugar was better controlled with Glimser Forte 2. I want to know the difference, and why the new medication. He has nephrology issues with his Creatinine around 1.7.

Due to his increased Creatinine, he required modifications in treatment. Trajenta is safe for kidney patients. That's why it was added along with decreasing dose of metformin, which was higher in glimser forte 2. Metformin is excellent drug for sugar control that's why he might feel with it, his sugars we're better, But seeing his age and Creatinine status, higher dose of metformin is harmful in longer duration.
