My aunty have both kidney stone and high blood pressure, so I want to ask you that eating dark chocolates and dry fruits like raisins, almonds, cashew nuts and walnuts will be beneficial for her or it has adverse effect on her?

Hello, lybrate-user having kidney stones - does not warrant her not to eat certain foods - the concept is that renal stones have got familial preponderance - in the way some genes are as well involved - in bringing about stones - what is required to do is urinary metabolic study - which suggests - as to what type of mineral is getting excreted in urine more - accordingly diet restictions can be planned. So she might not have adverse effect on taking the food above mentioned - if she is having regular fluid/ liquids intake. Suggestion - to get her urinary metabolic work up - once her kidneys are free of stones.

Respected Madam 1.Dark chocolates and dry fruits like cashew nuts and almonds have high oxalate content. It is better to restrict high oxalate containing foods in stone forming patients. 2.Also processed foods like packaged dry fruits have high salt content which is another risk factor for stone formation. Hope this helps Thanks.
