She did take some antihypertensive medication and her bp falls to 150/100 but even so headache and vomiting still present. She also did lumber puncture and the result was: Amount: 1 ml Color: colourless appearance: clear coagulation: nill protein: 50mgs% sugar: 76mgs% total cell count: 04cells/cumm differential cell count: all lymphocytes malignant cells: not seen others: RBC ++ can you please tell me what the result is and what should she do next. Does the presence of Rbc indicate cerebral hemorrhage?

Hi, RBC in lumbar puncture mostly indicate traumatic CSF means blood from layers of skin mixes with csf. For Subarachnoid haemorrhage xanthochromia is diagnostic. Its very difficult you to understand. I just want to tell you that get a non contrast CT brain, it will exclude cerebral haemorrhage. In a hypertensive patient with vomiting & headache one must exclude cerebral haemorrhage.
