Insulin is not drug ,it is harmone produced in your body. When you become deficent we replace with insulin. At times insulin production is more and still you have diabetes. In those cases insulin produced is not working efficiently what we call insulin resistance .Here we give tablets kwown as insulin sensitizers. Insulin has no serious side effects except hypoglycemia and weight gain. Your doctor will be best judge to tell when to start insulin.
