Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Blood glucose 350 mg/100 ml, is definitely too high. Uncontrolled diabetes is a serious problem as it affects almost every single vital organ in the body like eye (retina), kidneys, coronary arteries (supplying the heart muscle), blood vessels supplying the lower limbs and small blood vessels supplying the peripheral nerves. Because of this kidneys are damaged, retina is damaged leading to blindness, nerves are affected causing burning sensation or severe pain. Due affection of kidneys there may be swelling of feet and legs. Therefore, it is essential to control the blood glucose levels effectively and maintain fasting glucose closer to 100 mg, after food around 160 to 180 mg & HbA1c% <7. Since there is no mention of his weight, height, creatinine, urea, BP reading & HbA1c% it is difficult comment. Thanks.

Dear lybrate-user, Swelling of the legs is a common symptom of renal failure or damaged kidney which is an associated symptom of uncontrolled diabetes. It's important to consult a doctor properly and start treatment immediately.

Yes it's a problem. If kidneys are failed means. Their excretary system failed to function normally and leads to chronic renal failure. If only one kidney is failed and another kidney is normal then that normal kidney will work and function normally. If both kidneys are failed then it leads to chronic renal failure that leads to sudden cardiac arrest .so to prevent this we have to do dialysis and also certain salt restrictions taking less water and also by taking less protein diet will help the survival rate.
