My mom is 42 years old ,she is totally fit and healthy. BUT tomorrow when I CHECKED her blood sugar suddenly (as it is a common disease now a days) it shows 140 mg/dl in a glucometer. She told me that she was ate just about one hour ego ,it was lunch time and she ate some high carb. I want to know is it pre diabetic stage? Thanks in advance.

Dear Lybrate user, this is not the prediabetes status. In normal individual fasting BSL ranges from 80 to 110 mg/dl and post prandial (sugar 2 hours after meals) from 140 to 160 mg/dl. If you want to do detail study, you can consider doing FBsl and PP BSL with HBA1c from lab.

This data is not enough to diagnose pre diabetic stage. I would do a HbA1C with/without fasting Insulin levels to help diagnose prediabetes and then investigate further for underlying Metabolic and Hormonal imbalances to assess and treat the same.
