My son was having severe stomach pain and after sonography has been diagnosed with enlarged right iliac fossa lymph nodes (reactive). What does it means. Is it life threatening. Does my child needs hospitalisation. What medicine needs to be taken. Please indicate. Last year in January 2017 he was operated for appendicitis.

You must always mention the age and weight of the child. I don't think there is any reason to worry. The reactive lymph nodes are often seen in children. It is best to adopt a wait and review policy. Also he has had appendicectomy last year. The nodes post operatively also take time to resolve. You might want to discuss with the concerned surgeon once.
