I am diabetic (60 year old). My PP sugar level is 163 and HbA1c is 7.3. I am taking amaryl 1 mg with supplementary vitamin cap. Diatal daily morning only. In spite of regular walking exercise for 1 hr and strict diet control I could not bring my sugar levels below 140 mg for the past several months. I don't smoke, no alcohol & vegetarian. Plse advise.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. At 60 years your diabetes is fairly well controlled. Instead of considering any additional medication, you may look at slight alteration of your diet by increasing the intake of green leafy vegetables, salads and a few fruits. Plus take fenugreek seeds, 15 g just before each meal and or add flax seeds in the diet. Reduce itake of carbs plus increase the walking by a few more minutes. You may also do a bit of stairs climbing for about 10 to 15 minuts post lunch and or dinner. This specifically helps reduce post food glucose levels. Thanks.
