Hello, my wife got thyroid during pregnancy but it was maintained at TSH level at 0.07 with 75 mcg thyronorm. She delivered around 2 months back. After delivery she was continuing with 50 mcg thyronorm. Now we checked her TSH level again as per gynecologist instructions and it has increased to 2.8. What does it mean? Whether she needs to continue thyronorm. If needs to consult doctor then which specialized doctor?

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Usually following delivery requirement of thyroxine reduces. However, since now TSH is at 2.8 mU/L, (recommended range 32 to 4 mU/L), it necessary to continue the same dose. Further, she should check TSH levels periodically (once in 6 months). Please remember treatment of hypothyroidism is for lifetime. If you have any doubts please do come back. Thanks.
