I was on Tenormin 50, but the BP started going above 160/100 so my Dr. changed to Azutan 40 which brought down the BP to <130/80, however my pulse (which was controlled<80 by Tenormin) rose to about 90-95 and caused discomfort. Then my Dr. advised me to start Tenormin 25 mg in the evening. Now BP and pulse are okay. I want to know is this the right line of treatment? Is it not possible to achieve with one drug (say Tenormin) maybe with higher dose?

Palpitations occur when tenormin is withdrawn, but are transient, short lived. You may be able to reduce tenormin to 12.5 after 2 weeks, and the to 12.5 when needed for few doses, then discontinue. Increasing tenormin may work for short time, but not a good option, hope that you will manage with Azutan alone after the transition month.
