RBS is random blood sugar which is measuring blood sugar when the blood sample is collected anytime regardless of whether you have eaten or not. RBS: also used for monitoring of glucose, the sample taken irrespective of eating any time. PPBS: Prior to this test, after an overnight fasting (at this time FBS is taken, patient consumes meal, after 11/2 to 2 hrs the sample taken from the vein is to be tested for blood glucose levels.
