Normal kidney function is 120 (it is called GFR). Angiography very safe in normal kidney function. Kidney side effects of dye when GFR below 30 (over 75% weak)

The dye' contrast used in angiography is excreted out of the body by the kidneys, hence in certain select group of patients who are either having some pre-existing kidney diseases or co-existing diseases that damage kidneys like diabetes, when the dye is getting excreted it causes further damage to the kidneys. Presently some kidney safe dyes are available but even with them it is not possible to ensure 100% safety of the kidneys in the patients who are at this kind of risk. Few precautions along with use of these nephro safe dyes can minimise the chances of kidney injury. These precautions are ensuring adequate hydration of the patient 24-48 hrs pre & post procedure requiring the dye and ensuring as minimal use of contrast/dye during procedure.

You can go for CT CORONARY ANGIOGRAPHY TO reduce the side effects. The dye is safe for majority of patients.
