In what cases diabetes can be cured completely? I have diabetes and doctors at Aiims have suggested that tobacco use may be a reason behind diabetes. Will it get completely cured as I have left tobacco.

Lybrate-user, Thanks for he query. Diabetes mellitus is occurring due to either absence of Insulin (T1 DM) or due to lack of Insulin plus resistance to its action as in case of T2 DM Tobacco usage could be a trigger. That does not mean that once it is stopped, diabetes will be cured. There are many other reasons which can cause diabetes like family history, obesity, inactivity, junk foods, and autoimmune causes as in T1 diabetes. Diabetes once developed can be very well controlled, but complete cure is almost impossible. Or not there at all. Thanks.
