Hello Doctors, I am 24 year old and married housewife. Recently I had done my thyroid test, the result was T3-188, T4-0.5, TSH - 255.92, As it shows Hypothyroid my doctors prescribed to take Thyroxine Sodium Tablet 150 mcg (1 tablet daily on empty stomach) and to test again after 1 month, Now I want to know, how much time it will take to come to the normal range, and apart from taking medicine, should I need to Change my diet plan, if yes then please suggest me. Hello, Thanks for the query. For hypothyroidism there is no specific diet. However, if one has excess weight, then it is essential to restrict caloric intake and exercise for more than 1 hour a day to loose excess weight. You should avoid soy beans and all soy containing products. For getting better relief it is necessary to maintain TSH around 3 to 4 mU/L. Plus if one wants to get pregnant then TSH should be maintained around 2 mU/L. Plus there are trimester specific values that should be adhered to. Thanks.
