I am suffering from anxiety disorder, depression. Now taking medicine Dosulepin 25 mg at bed time and .25 mg clonazepam twice daily. Taking BP medicines Tazloc Beta 50 and cilnikem 10 mg also. I have been taking medicines for last 1 1/2 years and now clonazepam and Dosulepin has been reduced to half from 0.5 mg and 50 mg respectively. Now my GP has advice me to try to stop taking Dosulepin (Prothiaden. I am afraid of dropping it as it may cause me disturbance in sleep or withdraw side effects. Please advise.

You can try to stop the medicine, you may have sleep disturbance for a few days after stopping, but it usually settles down. Medication for depression is usually given for 6-12 months, after which it needs to be tapered and stopped. Please follow basic sleep hygiene techniques if you have sleep disturbance.
