Dear Lybrateuser, - To reduce your bp you have to lead a healthy lifestyle including having a well balanced, salt restricted diet with more of fibrous foods, do regular exercise, sleep well & keep stress to the minimum - have a well balanced diet with more of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, leg mes, soya products, sprouts & a handful of nuts, heart healthy foods such as fish like salmon, mackeral, tuna, walnuts, almonds, pista, avocados, flax seeds - avoid salty foods like namkeens, pickles, papads, trans & saturated fats containing foods, restrict tea, coffee intake to 1-2 cups per day - have salad, fruits, yogurt or sprouts as snacks which will help reduce calories & also weight - do regular exercise like brisk walking, jogging, swimming, play a game, for 30-40 min, do yoga, meditation for 15-20 min to relax your mind - reduce weight by diet & exercise the bp will fall by 8-10 mm of Hg by reducing 10-12 Kgs - sleep well for at least 7-8 hrs at night, keep your sleep & wake up time fixed - destress by reading, listening to music or follow a hobby - if no significant change by three months then you may require medication as per your bp levels.
