Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Diabetes sometimes becomes progressively more severe. Hence the old dosage may not be adequate and newer drugs may be needed to achieve better control. This happens because of high blood glucose and fat causing damage to beta cells (insulin secreting cells in pancreas). Therefore, you will have to check blood glucose regularly. If you maintain fasting < 100 mg, PP 150 to 170 mg & HbA1c% < 6.8, then pancreatic cells function better. There is no permanent solution. Treatment is life long. Along with that there has to proper diet and regular exercise. These two are equally important in controlling the disease. Thanks.
