Sir, My mother is admitted in sahara hospital Lucknow on 10 May 2018 on emergency. She was suffering from plural effusion. And diagnosed. With large liver abscesses of 800 mm. One drain has been inserted in that location and it has been continued till 23 May. They have put also one drain for lung. On 12. May.and fluid is coming daily. Now last five days it was around 100 ml. Around. 14 days have been past. So how many days it will continue. Any serious thing is there. What is cause of so much fluid. Weather it is due to liver abscesses. She was diagnosed with TB and continued medicine till 18 Feb 2018 for approx. 6.5 month. How many days fluid will come out. Weather we can move through this drain to home. Please immediately suggest.

If there is a liver abscess the pleural effusion is likely to be secondary to that. Until the infection there resolves fluid drainage can continue. It can take many days. The drain needs to be there until the infection is cleared.
