I have been taking zosert 100 mg for over 4 years now for depression and anxiety. Recently I decided to half my dose to 50 mg because I want to stop taking it. But I have been experiencing irritability and anger due to this. Previously I did try to stop taking it but somehow I revert back to taking it. Should I eventually stop taking this drug and will it have a negative impact on my brain and body if I continue the dose for long?

Sertaline is a safe drug if taken according to your psychiatrist's prescription. Start counselling to work on your maladaptive thought processes and build your coping mechanisms. Once the psychologist has worked with you for nearly 10-15 sessions, you should ask your psychiatrist to taper the drug. If symptom reoccur, you may have to take the drug for long time.
