I am 23 years old suffering from OCD for more than 8 years. Currently my treatment is undergoing at a hospital, Kolkata. My doctor has prescribed me these medicines, Zosert 100 mg, Arzu 10 mg and Voxidep 25 mg which I have been taking for 4 and half months. Although the medicines worked on me greatly, during this period, I unexpectedly gained 12 to 15 kgs weight despite maintaining a proper diet. So, my question to you is that do the medicines cause weight gain?

Dear lybrate-user, Zosert, Arzu and Voxidep are NOT known to cause weight gain. There could be some other reason like no anxiety of obsessions, made you eat more. Or it could be, no repetitive actions of compulsions, made you burn less calories. However please do not stop these medicines. Please try diet and exercise regime to reduce weight. You have consult the doctor and if necessary check the thyroid profile.
