Respected doctors, Today my question is, if a person is diabetic can he eat ice-cream two days in a month. How much sugar is good in a day.

Mr. Lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. For a diabetic person it is always good to avoid sugar all the while. We do not need sugar at all. Because the that we consume enough carbohydrates, which ultimately get converted to glucose. When a diabetic person takes any quantity of sugar, that leads to a sudden spike in blood glucose. As regards eating ice cream, basically a diabetic person should avoid such high sugar items. But if one does want to eat can just a spoon ful or so. A whole scoop of ice cream is bound to increase your glucose suddenly. Thanks.
