Dear Doctors, Could you please guide what is H.pylori? Can it cause severe pain in abdomen for almost continuously for over a week. Also, can GB stone size 4-5 mm can cause continuous sharp severe pain too?

H.pylori or helicobacter pylori is a a bacteria causing gastritis and gastric ulcers. Prolonged h.pylori ulcers can transform into gastric cancer. So yes, it can cause prolonged stomach pain. Good thing is that it is a treatable cause of gastritis and gastric ulcers. GB stones too can cause pain in a number of ways, that is, by causing biliary colic, cholecystitis or cholangitis. The pain in stomach will be more on the left side of abdomen and from GB stones it will be more on right side. Though epigastric pain is a region of overlap and pain in this region can be because of either condition. Hope that was helpful.
