I am badly addicted to my mobile phone, in the start I thought it's easy I can control it but as I am living alone and there's no one who can punish or take my phone away, I am using my phone most of time in day, tried switching off, locking but I can not control myself, I am again doing something after 10 15 min so that I use my phone again. Please advise.

Hello, I can understand your concern. Symptoms of mobile phone addiction include a) preoccupation with mobile; b) increasing tolerance; c) development of psychological dependency and withdrawal symptoms; d) inability to reduce phone use; e) phone use to cope with negative moods and reduce stress; and f) replacing other activities and relationships with recurrent gaming use despite awareness of the deleterious consequences. The effective therapy for phone addiction needs an individual approach and best results are expected on combined psychological and pharmacological treatment. It includes modifying the behavior i.e. Setting up realistic goals, daily log of mobile use, structuring use, creating a new schedule and to learn to control mobile usage, reducing maladaptive cognitions. Hi Lybrate user Make a schedule according to your work/ study profile and try to focus on your personal goal, give your attention to your responsibilities. Think what is more important for you. Try to change your thoughts, if you will be able to change your thinking about your cell phone, you can feel better and use your cell phone less, remind yourself that whatever you are wanting to check on your phone is not that important and you can wait for sometimes. Be in the present moment, engage yourself in some physical activities, outdoor activities. You can do some creative things. Hope these tips are helpful for you. Thanks.
