Hi, I am (Male) 58 years has the following Thyroid Panel Serum results: T3 - 112.58 T4 - 6.80 TSH 3rd Generation - 6.541 What should I do. Should I take any medicine regularly for life time/few months? What are the precautions I take? What should I take/not take? Any other advise? Please suggest.

Please check two more tests 1.Anti TPO test and FT3 FT4 TSH tests. Send reports. Then I will guide you accordingly. I am Thyroid specialist.

Hello, Thanks for the query. WIth TSH 6.541 mU/L, it is sub-clinical hypothyroidism. Usually no treatment is advocated for this. Hypothyroidism is diagnosed when TSH goes beyond 10 mU/L. So at present you need not take any treatment for it. You should check TSH after 6 moths to see if there is any further increase. If you are already not on thyroxine, then there is no reason to take it. Thanks.
