I am diabetic and hypertensive, he is 56 years old. He is allergic to glimepiride hence has started on glibenclamide (1\4th tab), dynaglypt m and telmikind H. Is it ok if he takes glibenclamide. His serum creatinine is 1.3.FBS is 119 .PPBS is 146. Kindly advice.

Hello, Thanks for the query. Usually if there is allergy to sulfonylurea, it will be there for all the compounds of that class. So if some one is allergic to glimiperide, then may also be allergic to glibenclamide. Therefore, it is better to avoid this group of drugs all together There are many other options to control blood glucose. The treating diabetologist will be better person to advise. Thanks.
