My husband's age is 66. He has diabetes since 5 years. He takes Biciphage 500SR, Metformin hydrochloride after breakfast. Nothing else. Today we had report and fasting blood sugar is 173 mg/DL and p.p.is 202 mg/DL. Creatinine is 1.06 mg/DL. thyroid function test T3, serum chemiluminescence is 1.02 T4 is 7.3 TSH is 4.120 I would like to have advice and suggestions. Thanks.

Hello, Thanks for the query. Fasting glucose level is very high and PP also is not incontrol. What it means is that only Metformin 500 mg is not adequate. There is a need for upgrading the treatment. Ideally Fasting glucose should be < 100 mg, PP 170 to 180 mg & HbA1c% <7. His thyroid hormone levels are fine. No reason to worry about that. It is also necessary to look at his diet and extent of exercise. Thanks.
