Hi, My wife is having depression. she has been given sertraline 50 amitriptyline 25 and clonazepam 25 and risperidone 5. She has started the medication for 2 days except risperidone and she is always sleeping only she is waking up to have foods and toilet. If I start risperidone from today will she sleep 24 hrs then how can we understand that she is progressing or not. She is feeling drowsy and she is talking in a very low voice as it is very hard to hear. Is this natural?

Dear Yubaraj, Your wife may be having psychotic symptoms also along with depression. Amitriptyline and clonazepam have side effect of sedation. However she is taking rest and getting up for food and toilet. She would have got used to these drugs in 2 days. Now you can give risperidone also. Risperidone does not come as 5. Maybe it is 0.5. However discuss with your doctor about drowsiness without stopping the drug. You should weigh whether drowsiness is worse or her symptoms are worse.
