Pilonidla Sinus could not be treated just by taking oral medicines and applying some ointments. Usually surgery is advised to treat Pilonidal Sinus but it is not a good choice for the reason of recurrence of problem after surgery. However Ayurveda recommends Ksharsutra treatment for Pilonidal sinus which treats this problem completely. Recent advancement in Ksharsutra therapy i.e. Graded Ksharsutra facility is available in India only at Sushruta Ano Rectal Institute New Delhi. In this treatment Ksharsutra - a medicated thread is placed in Sinus tract. Medicine present in Ksharsutra debrides the sinus tract and induces healing. This medicine works for 5-7 days. So old Ksharsutra needs to replaced by a new one at a week or 10 days interval. No. Of Ksharsutra changes required for complete healing of Pilonidal Sinus depends on depth, direction and branching pattern of Sinus tract. It is observed that Sinus heals @ 0.5 to 1 cm per sitting i.e. To say that a 3 cm long Sinus tract needs 4-5 Ksharsutra changes for complete healing. For further support and appointment you may call reception at Sushruta Ano Rectal Institute.
