If copper vessels are best for storing drinking water, how should they be cleaned? With ordinary kitchen detergents inside and outside? Bottle brush for scrubbing? Doesn't copper get easily oxidised, so is that not a danger with copper containers?

Whatever be the material a vessel storing water will get unclean from the sediments in water and should be cleaned . The accumulated dirt cannot be oxidises or self cleaned as you say
