Hi, I'm 21 and I'm getting the very bad mood swings I don't know why but I'm very stressed these days. I have a breakdown almost every day it gets worse on my periods but that time (during my menstrual cycle) I understand but even normally I feel very stressed and anxious. I feel low everyday. I have started snapping at every person I meet. Normally I'm a very calm person but from the past 2 to 3 months I have been very stressed even though there's nothing to be stressed about. I have sleeping issues I sleep late and wake up late, I am tired every time initially I thought it's because of the work load and since I live in chennai it's hot here and I'm from shimla that's pretty cold but it's been 4 years since I'm here and this has never happened before. Please help me. I want to be calm again I hate to be this angry and frustrated all the time. I am epileptic not taking any medication for that right now. I have gained a lot of weight too.

Anger and fear are at the root of all your problems and if they are genuinely mood swings I am a little concerned. But don't worry too much because you are young you can resolve it better. Please visit a counselor and if that person advises that you meet a doctor do so immediately and be very cooperative with both. You need to get on to a tight schedule of activities not too busy but suitably occupied. You need to express your feelings appropriately to someone. The low mood is connected with the depression and needs effective attention. So get on an exercise schedule, wake up by 6 am everyday and eat healthily. You learn about stress free lifestyle and that will impact your overall health.
