My father has diabetes from last 4 years previous it was going normal taking medicine and life was going normal good but now from 1 months as we checks sugar level in blood 2 times in a day morning and evening than results comes very different in morning its comes approximate 90 to 120 and in evening its comes 250 to 300. So how its happening .so could you please let me know why its happening is there any specific reason or is it normal case.

Hello, Thanks for the query. It is possible that the drug/s used for controlling blood glucose may not be enough. There could be many reasons like - patients dietary control may not be adequate, food habits might have changed. Or over a period he might have started taking some additional food intake. Secondly the extent of exercise being done daily may have reduced or he may not doing it at all. Plus excess weight leads to affection of Insulin action including increase in the Insulin resistance. Looking at his weight and height it is clear that with a BMI of 30 kgs/Sq meter, he is already in grade 1 obesity. His ideal body weight should be 56 kgs, as against he has an excess of 16 kgs. This is the main culprit in upsetting the control. Plus there is a need to give a closer look at his current frug treatment, diet. Thanks.
