Hello doctor, My husband is gaining weight day by day so I thought of doing thyroid test his weight is 98. The results are: T3:115 T4: 7.1 TSH: 5.19 According to the range mentioned in report T3 and T4 is within range but TSH is more. Please suggest me what needs to be done to control this. Hello, Thanks for the query. TSH 5.19 mU/L is almost normal. Only when TSH crosses 6mU/L and up to 9.9 mU/L it is considered as sub-clinical hypothyroidism and when it is 10 mU/l or more then it is considered as hypothyroidism. Everyone of us has Thyroid gland. The conditions are known as Hypo thyroidism when the gland is less active or not producing any thyroxine. Plus when it produces excess it is called as Hyperthyroidism (< 0.05 mU/L). So presently he does not have thyroid related issue. It is essential for him to reduce dietary intake and exercise regularly. Thanks.
