I have a moderate to severe ankle sprain. Applied ice to the injury when I got it at first but after the initial icing I haven't iced it again. It's been 6 days now and the swelling hasn't gone down. I've been elevating it and it's been splinted and compressed with a bandage. Should I follow through with a hot or cold compress for the ankle? No bones were fractured as shown from x-ray imaging.

Its always suggessted to do only cold pack as it helps to reduce the inflammation. Hot pack increases the swelling.
