Ideally plain paracetamol syp should be given when ever you want to give. But if you are giving meftal it should not be given before 8 hr.

Meftalp should be given maximum three times a day at 8 hourly interval in age appropriate dose if temperature is > 100 but it is not preffered as first medicine for fever due to its adverse effects on liver function. First drug which should be used in case of fever is paracetamol in dose which has been confirmed by your doctor dose of any of these drugs is decided by weight of the child, hence do specify your child's weight also.
