My father first chemo is going to start in two days. Carboplatin 150 mg being planned./week. I just wanted to know complications with this drug and how to control wbc counts. Pls advise thank you.

Dear lybrate-user carboplatin weekly can lead to decreased blood counts. Weekly cbc is advised. If wbc is low booster injection will b advised. Kidney dysfunction. Serum creatinine needs to be checked.

neutropenia,nausea vomiting,nephrotoxicity are the possible side effects. to improve counts you can go with granulocyte colony stimulating factor ( Gcsf/filgrastim) with your oncologist s advise

Thats not much toxic . Normal healthy food to be taken with some vitamins. Avoid road side food.
