Hi doctor, my father is having swelling pain on his left eye and some vision problems. He s 71 years old. He is under treatment for hyperthyroidism. He has taken one radio iodine treatment dosage and going to take next dose in this month. Is this eye problem related to to thyroid problem? Is it curable. He even had thyroid storm once will it affect his vision. Is it curable.

In a few cases, an eye problem known as graves' ophthalmopathy may develop if hypothyroidism develops after treatment for graves' disease ? the most common form of overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism). Graves' ophthalmopathy can cause eye discomfort, protruding eyeballs and vision changes.
