Dear doctor my blood sugar lever is around 120 at the time of fasting and sometime it reach at 160 .i m taking amaryl 2 mg in morning and having low carbohydrate diet .now I have starting morning walk around 5 kms daily .when I checked yesterday it was 112 I am 43 years old.

Mr. lybrate-user, thanks for the query. I have seen the details given, usually in a well controlled diabetic person fasting glucose should be < 100 mg or closer to 100 mg. If it is 160 mg, means it is high. There can be variations in the glucose levels, mainly due to the variations in food intake. Best measure of control is to check hba1c%. That will give correct idea whether control is good or not. Ideally in a well controlled patient fasting should be < 100 mg, pp 150 to 160 mg & hba1c% < 6.8%. Thanks.
