That is the issue when you give a pre mixed insulin. Specially in a type1. So the best thing to do is give basal bolus. Short acting like regular or analog 3 times and a long acting basal once daily. It is easier to adjust the dose. With a pre-mixed insulin, such adjustments are difficult to make. You need to get someone to educate your child on how to take insulin. It is not very difficult.

3 things you have to keep in mind- 1-keep her on short acting insulin like actrapid three times daily before each meals. 2-keep her physical activity in mind how much she is active like taking part in sports etc. 3-diet-her calory intake should be more or less fixed in each meal for this you may take help of a dietician. Train her to recognize symptoms of hypoglycemia and give her some sweets to counter it if it happens. She should keep a card about his health mentioning that she is diabetic and on insulin. Keep in touch with your physician.
