Is it safe to give sizodon syrup to my 3.5 years old autism boy? Doctor suggested this for his hyperness. I have given to him last 6 months. But I want not to give him. If I will stop the syrup there will be any side effects or I just continue. Please anybody suggest asap. It's emergency.

In general it is not a good idea to start or stop any medicine by yourself. But you could and should discuss your concerns about the medicine with your doctor. Ask for more time to discuss and be prepared to be charged for the time. It will be a sensible expense. Try to find out what calms down your boy and use that to soothe him. It could be a toy or a sound or picture. Observe and learn. Assuming that the medicine too helps control the child's agitation, if you stop it the agitation will recur. That will be the only side effect of stopping the medicine. However I am not your child's doctor nor have I examined your child. So it would be wrong for me to opine about whether you should stop administering the medicine. Please make an urgent appointment with your doctor. Ask for more time to discuss and declare your readiness to pay for your doctor's time.

Dear sir, I am very sorry to hear about your dilemma. Sizodon syrup is a antipsychotic medication. It is approved for treating hyperactivity, irritability, self-injurious behaviour in autism spectrum disorder. As with any other medication, sizodon also has side effects, most commonly weight gain and sedation. The decision of whether or not to continue with risperidone therapy depends on the benefits you are experiencing vs the side effects if any. Hope this adrresses your concern.
