Hello, I'm 29 years old. 1.5 months ago I was diagnosed with hepatitis a I rested for 1 month and my alat went down to 149 and as at to 49. These last two weeks I starter playing golf again everyday 18 holes and walking. Today I had my blood test and the alat rose to 605 and the as at to 223 and the viral charge of hepatitis a is negative now. Is it possible that the alat and as at rose due to high physical exercise? Thank you.

Yes a cause of elevated liver transaminase levels is muscle injury. Strenuous exercise or myopathy can cause elevations (especially of ast) without causing any other symptoms. Annual screening of healthy, asymptomatic patients for liver disease using alt and ast levels is not useful.
